Ok...so sorry if you've all seen this all over your friends list, but compiling two different "action plans". I'm sorry, but i'm screening comments and logging IPs. >>; you will have to wait till your comment shows up.

roaring's compiled a listing of some of the facts, which link to more facts, etc., of what's going on, mostly in relation to the fandom people getting hit by this.
Click the banner above to see that.
this was taken from
rosesatmidnight for the same program on a more personal standpoiont, though I edited it for my own words at the end. For the original go take action!

Dear LJ:
I was quite appalled to hear about your mass-deletion of communities and journals with what you deemed as 'triggering' interests. Some of us have survived Rape. Some of us have survived abuse. And some of us wish to speak up and help others. How can we do that if you're taking away what we use to help those in need?
Have you even researched this "Warriors For Innocence"? Now what about the countless others who will not benefit from this deletion? What about the countless molesters who will now be driven further underground?
What about the countless members who have survived abuse, who have survived rape, and are now, finally, proud to stand up and say that they have... only for LJ to tell them that they can't?
Now what will we do? Now what source will we have to share our stories and our knowledge with others, now that your once-valuable source has been so ruthlessly and thoughtlessly taken away?
You were once one of the voices that helped make us strong as a united front.
And now your silence in the fight deafens me. Your silence speaks volumes, as much now as it will ever speak. Your silence is like a slap in the face to those of us who have survived the rape, survived the abuse, and are now, or will soon, learn to stand again, learn to live again, learn to function again.
As the friend of several people who have survived abuse and rape, I, personally, hope that you never experience it. And if that does happen, I hope that this very same silence never crosses your path.
Respectfully,
ladybrighid3333

Comment(optional): While LJ's aims in this purge are presumably admirable, they have clearly gone too far. Banning innocent people who have committed no crimes without warning is censorship, plain and simple. There is no cause for this, nor justification.

Comment(optional): I'm beyond furious. Bending backwards in front of a bunch of religious fools means you just turned your back to a huge amount of paying customers. I read fanfiction and I'm an abuse survivor. This idiotic mock of a crusade will hardly save a single child. Instead it has shown everyone that you don't care about your customers nor about what is right and decent.

Comment(optional): I think this entire 'movement' is a disgrace - if this is truly about 'protecting children' [which I don't believe for one second that it is] it is their PARENT'S job. Not mine. I don't have children and don't believe I should be responsible for everyone else's. You are taking away everyone's voice and it is disgusting. This is a place for freedom of expression and to take away any part of that is terrible. Think about the implications of what you're doing.

As a (now former) member of apotterslash and pornish_pixies, I'm exceedingly saddened and disappointed that Livejournal would delete any community when it has formerly built such a lovely and stellar reputation for being a journal service that promotes free speech. This did nothing to prevent sexual predators.
If this is the community you are "trying to build," then apparently I am not apart of it.

Comment: this is just going to make pedophiles and child molesters more secretive. there's no "war" to be won here. try targeting websites that actually distribute real child pornography--although i'm sure everyone is just too scared that they'll be targeted as pedophiles by searching for them. so let's just tell LJ to delete random journals by a few nonspecific interests! great job, guys! NOBODY WILL EVER MOLEST A CHILD NOW THAT THEIR JOURNALS HAVE BEEN SUSPENDED!

Comment(optional): As other countless people before me, I have been a victim of rape twice in my life, not to mention abuse. When someone comments in a journal saying they want to have sex with a 13 year old girl that lives just down the street, and nothing is done about it whatsoever, it makes me want to vomit. Completely sick to my stomach. Of course, if someone was making comments about your barely-teenage daughter, would you not want to stop it ahead of time? No? Ok, just let your daughter get raped. Make her traumatized for her whole life. Make her afraid. What would she do if she found out you could do something and you flat-out DIDN'T? I'm sorry, you've lost your minds. I'm not apart of any fic community, or anything of the sort...but to find out that you're attacking COMPLETELY INNOCENT PEOPLE and you have DENIED TO HELP OR INVESTIGATE actual attackers is just...wow. What are we going to say to the authorities? "Yeah...hi...there was this anonymous poster, the IP was blocked, but they were talking about raping a little girl...yeah I have absolutely no information to give to you, but Livejournal didn't help me or give me any information." What would they say? "Uh, too bad? Nothing we can do."
Thanks LJ. It's nice knowing that a woman could've been killed and tortured and a little girl could've been raped because of you.

Comment(optional): Everyone's said it already, but I just have to add that this whole mess was caused by two (yes, count them, two) people with an Internet connection, a website and some spare time. Are advertisers so stupid that they don't check a group's credentials before responding to their scare story? Are the directors of Six Apart?
I fully support the monitoring of known paedophiles who act on their urges to abuse children or encourage others to do so, either directly or through the viewing/purchase of pornographic images produced through child abuse, but this is NOT the way to do that. In fact, I think it's preferable to have paedophile groups in full view, e.g. on LJ, where they can be properly monitored, if the proper legal authorities choose to do so - note, the proper legal authorities, not a couple of far-right whack-jobs who've taken it upon themselves to 'clean up' the Internet.
The most insidious part of all this is that they are trying to make it seem like the problem is 'out there', when in fact most children who suffer sexual abuse suffer it from a trusted family member or family friend - but oh no, we can't focus on that because that threatens the 'sanctity of the family'.

Comment(optional):I am appalled at the way that LJ has handled this situation. Deleting survivor support groups, and RPG players are not the actions of a rational mind.
Like many others, I was going to apply for a permanent account when they became available next month, but that is out of the question now. When my paid account expires towards the end of this year I will be reviewing whether to renew it or not - that is if I haven't already relocated my journal to another provider.
All you needed to have done was to check the contents of the journal before making a decision to delete it.... Doing it the way you did, has only served to alienate the people who ultimately pay your salary!

Comment(optional): There's this thing called fiction; maybe you should read about it. Oh, wait... It's not like all of these people are going around thinking about doing criminal things. Again, I reiterate: FICTION. Some of the greatest PIECES written, of ALL times, dealt with some of these themes. I, personally, am not into those kind of stories, but when you start messing with the freedom to express a story in a piece of WRITING, you are getting twisted in politics, and that's, frankly, bull-shit.

Comment(optional):I completely agree with the need to prevent illegal activities from being carried out on LiveJournal, and anywhere else for that matter. However, deleting fiction and most especially survivor communities in no way falls under this category. Freedom of speech means just that, and while there are restrictions in terms of not inciting others to illegal activity, fanfiction and discussing rape/abuse survival cannot be construed to be an abuse of free speech. In the latter case, it is incredibly important that victims of abuse can have the freedom to speak out, so that they can help each other and those out there who don't realise that what they're going through is not their fault and doesn't reflect badly on them.
For shame.

Comment(optional): I am beyond disgusted by SixApart's handling (or rather, non-handling) of this situation, and I am very hesitant to renew any of my paid accounts when the time comes. What happened to freedom of expression? God forbid anyone read deeply into my RPG journals. I RP a serial killer (two, actually), a girl who was 16 when she got together with her 30 year old boyfriend (perfectly legal in the UK, where the RP is set), and my personal journal is filled with information on strangling, BDSM, and other extreme things. Including, of course, fanfic that tends to be violent, strange, or deals with rape/incest (since I've had personal experience with both).

Comment: I don't condone pedophilia, I really dont. But I don't condone you taking away lives. I've put so much of myself into my journals, so many small moments and so many big ones. And it's daunting to know that in a second it can all be taken away from me, why? Because you're incorrectly abusing the power switch. Haha, thanks live journal.
