Ok...so sorry if you've all seen this all over your friends list, but compiling two different "action plans". I'm sorry, but i'm screening comments and logging IPs. >>; you will have to wait till your comment shows up.

roaring's compiled a listing of some of the facts, which link to more facts, etc., of what's going on, mostly in relation to the fandom people getting hit by this.
Click the banner above to see that.
this was taken from
rosesatmidnight for the same program on a more personal standpoiont, though I edited it for my own words at the end. For the original go take action!

Dear LJ:
I was quite appalled to hear about your mass-deletion of communities and journals with what you deemed as 'triggering' interests. Some of us have survived Rape. Some of us have survived abuse. And some of us wish to speak up and help others. How can we do that if you're taking away what we use to help those in need?
Have you even researched this "Warriors For Innocence"? Now what about the countless others who will not benefit from this deletion? What about the countless molesters who will now be driven further underground?
What about the countless members who have survived abuse, who have survived rape, and are now, finally, proud to stand up and say that they have... only for LJ to tell them that they can't?
Now what will we do? Now what source will we have to share our stories and our knowledge with others, now that your once-valuable source has been so ruthlessly and thoughtlessly taken away?
You were once one of the voices that helped make us strong as a united front.
And now your silence in the fight deafens me. Your silence speaks volumes, as much now as it will ever speak. Your silence is like a slap in the face to those of us who have survived the rape, survived the abuse, and are now, or will soon, learn to stand again, learn to live again, learn to function again.
As the friend of several people who have survived abuse and rape, I, personally, hope that you never experience it. And if that does happen, I hope that this very same silence never crosses your path.
Respectfully,
ladybrighid3333

Date: 2007-05-30 02:56 pm (UTC)Dear LJ:
The things I'm reading on my friendslist about deletion of LJ accounts on the basis of a single complaint based on an interest search or two can't be true, can they? And without any investigation into the nature of teh interest - say, listing rape as an interest because one is a former victim and available to lend support to other victims?
Have you researched this "Warriors For Innocence"? Even as much as liz-marcs has? Have you caved in to merely perceived authority without verifying that it is authority?
It disappoints me that there's been no post on news about this. There'd better be one soon.
I'm not myself a rape victim. I'm not aware that anyone I know self-identifies as a rape victim (whether they've experienced rape or not, which I also don't know). My personal LJ and friendslist haven't been touched by these purges (only by discussions of them). But I don't want when you come for me to be the last one left.
Respectfully,
Paul Gadzikowski

Comment(optional): I'm in no way supporting the committing of crimes against any fellow human being but.. deleting people for suggestive content or their interest. Their work & creativity that is getting deleted, going down the drain is unfair.
I agree with some others that many of the real criminals might be the ones that are going underground and avoiding all of this.
Where is the freedom of speech? Isn't it what LJ's main aim for.
You guys should go back to the drawing board and work out what is actually going on.

Comment: All this is doing is driving the real predators underground. Instead of making LJ safer, it is now more dangerous. The fact that survivor groups are getting hit with this is disgusting. This has got to stop.

Comment(optional): Great job at causing mass panic and chaos. Innocent people are being hurt while the real threats are digging themselves further down. It saddens me to know that Lj is taking this action. Now to feel threatened and possibly violated doesn't make me comfortable here anymore.

Comment(optional): I am disgusted at the way this affair has been treated. We were given no warning, even those of us that are innocent. You have made all of us, even those who are not paedophiles and don't even write "shota". On that point alone I could say a lot -- fiction is fiction, people don't write about things because they intend or even want to do them. And in the rare cases you have deleted journals that may be relevant to the sudden purge, it may be that in this mass deletion you are getting in the way of some official investigation into such journals and giving those who are guilty the heads up, allowing them to slink away. I was intending to buy a permanent account when they go on sale, but unless this issue is dealt with, I will not be, and as much as I like the service in other respects, I will not be renewing my paid accounts.

Comment(optional): At the risk of sounding childish and inane, this whole thing is really rather stupid. Part of me wonders what these Warriors for Innocence think they're doing, especially considering that people who are actually in the wrong would probably not put such interests into their profile.
All of this has actually led me to reduce my account to a basic one, without ads, and without paying.

Comment(optional): I am offended on the behalf of fellow members of Fandom that innocent people have lost their journals, their communities and have to censor themselves because some people aren't careful enough in checking whether they really are predators or not.
This has been badly done, by both Warriors For Innocence and Live Journal.

Comment(optional): The only thing that will come of this is various users leaving the site out of frustration, because their writing is stunted or their simple joy towards something in fandom (what comes of those fans of Angel Sanctuary, of anything-- hell, Sailor Moon with 'improper relationships',) while these so called pedophiles aren't about to care. Don't destroy the lives of the people who are making the most of their accounts on LJ, instead put your efforts better towards a site like... Neopets or something. You'd get a lot done sans the grief.

Comment(optional): I am one of the many survivors of childhood sexual abuse. I had found a place to discuss it and find people who have gone through the same by searching these so-called "hot interests." I am utterly DISGUSTED at how these same communities that helped me through a rough patch in both my emotional and sexual life are now deleted due to the lack of thought given to the deletions.

Comment(optional): LJ used to be a free place, where it was possible to express all fantasies and thoughts as long as they wouldn't hurt anyone (abuse and pedosexuality does). This is about to be destroyed. If you don't want people to leave LJ for good and seek their freedom of speech elsewhere, stop suspending the accounts of people who have not commited any crime. There is nothing to be gained from it anyway.

Comment(optional): As if something like that would change anything, frankly LJ... Power abuse it’s not my idea of a righteous solution. Fanfiction is by no means something that should be taken as offensive, it’s fictional for God’s sake... A proper reasearch should have been done before all that deleting, really... Investigating fairly is the right act to do, but it seems that it’s a lot easier to just go and attack everything all of a sudden, right?
And even on internet we can’t have the freedom of speech and the freedom of expression, tsk.
